Arcade Industry Glossary: Redemption, Kiddie Ride, Simulator, MOQ and Incoterms
By Ele-Amuse Team
If you are new to buying amusement equipment, the jargon slows every decision. This glossary defines the terms you will see in every quote, with a real machine linked for each.
Redemption game
A game where players win tickets (or digital credits) they redeem at a prize counter. The goal is repeat play, not a single prize. Example: the capsule prize redemption game. Redemption drives repeat visits better than pure prize machines.
Kiddie ride
A coin-operated seated ride for young children — no skill required, a timed movement cycle. Example: the mechanical horse kiddie ride. Typically ~1.5 m², 60–90 second cycle.
Simulator / VR simulator
A motion or VR unit that places the player inside a simulated experience (roller-coaster, flight, racing). Example: the VR 1080 rotating chair roller-coaster simulator. Higher revenue per play, higher power and floor needs.
Claw / crane machine
A skill-and-chance cabinet where the player moves a claw to grab a prize. The 25-inch arcade candy claw machine is the classic FEC draw.
MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity)
The smallest quantity a factory will produce per order. At Ele-Amuse, MOQ starts at 1 piece, so you can pilot a single unit. Many factories set MOQ at 50–100; ours is lower to help new importers test.
FOB (Free On Board)
Price includes delivery to the load port; the buyer pays ocean freight and insurance and takes risk on board. See the import guide for the full comparison.
CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight)
Seller includes ocean freight and insurance to the destination port. Simpler single quote, but the buyer pays the seller's freight rate.
Incoterms
The International Chamber of Commerce's standardized trade terms (FOB, CIF, EXW, DDP, etc.) that fix where cost and risk transfer. The official 2020 rules are published by the ICC.
CE / RoHS / FCC / UL
Compliance marks by market: CE + RoHS apply to the EU, FCC to the US, UL listing is common on select lines, and TÜV Rheinland together with ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 relate to the factory quality system. Confirm which certificates your supplier can provide per model before import. Always request the certificate pack per model.
Payback period
The time for a machine's gross profit to recover its landed cost. Driven by plays/hour, ticket price and footprint — the core number in any buying decision.
