CE, RoHS and UL: Certification Checklist for Importing Amusement Machines

By Ele-Amuse Team

A modern indoor family entertainment center in Southeast Asia — arcade cabinets, claw machines and kiddie rides

Compliance is the difference between a smooth customs entry and a seized container. This checklist covers the marks you will actually be asked for when importing coin-operated machines, and how Ele-Amuse documents them.

CE + RoHS (European Union)

  • CE marking: the machine conforms to EU health, safety and environmental protection. Required for the EU market.
  • RoHS: restricts hazardous substances in electrical equipment. Pairs with CE for electronics.
  • Ask for the EU Declaration of Conformity and the test report per model. Request the CE + RoHS certificate pack per model from your supplier.

FCC (United States)

The FCC mark covers electromagnetic compatibility for electronic equipment sold in the US. Required for any cabinet with a screen, sound or RF. US-bound units should ship with FCC documentation — confirm it is included before you release payment.

UL listed (United States, optional but preferred)

UL listing is not federal law but many US venues, insurers and chains require it. Select Ele-Amuse lines are UL listed; confirm per model if your buyer demands it. Plan for a slightly longer lead time on UL-configured units.

TÜV Rheinland and ISO (factory system)

  • TÜV Rheinland: third-party safety certification on select lines — strong for tender and institutional buyers.
  • ISO 9001:2015 / ISO 14001: quality and environmental management at the factory. Ele-Amuse runs a TÜV-audited quality system.

How to read a certificate pack

A proper pack contains:

  1. The mark (CE / FCC / UL) with the model name matching your order
  2. The standard reference (e.g. EN 60335 for electrical safety)
  3. The issue date and validity window
  4. The testing lab name

If the model on the certificate does not match the model you ordered, treat it as not covered.
