Importing Arcade Machines from China: MOQ, FOB vs CIF, and Lead Time

By Ele-Amuse Team

A modern indoor family entertainment center in Southeast Asia — arcade cabinets, claw machines and kiddie rides

Importing coin-operated machines from China is straightforward once you know four terms: MOQ, FOB, CIF and lead time. This guide uses Ele-Amuse's own ordering terms so you can plan a container with confidence.

MOQ: you can pilot before scaling

Minimum order quantity at Ele-Amuse starts at 1 piece. That matters for first-time importers: you can order a single capsule prize redemption game to test in your venue, then scale to a full container once it pays back. Mixed-model containers are normal — operators combine kiddie rides, claw and redemption in one 20ft or 40ft box.

FOB vs CIF: who pays for the ocean

These Incoterms decide where cost and risk transfer:

  • FOB (Free On Board): the price covers the machine delivered to the port of loading (e.g. Shenzhen/Yantian). You, the buyer, book and pay ocean freight + insurance, and you own the risk once it is on the ship.
  • CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight): the seller includes ocean freight and insurance to your destination port. Simpler for the buyer, but you pay the seller's freight rate.

Most experienced importers choose FOB and use their own freight forwarder to control cost. New importers often prefer CIF for a single quoted number. Either is fine — just confirm which is in the quote.

Container loading: how many fit

A 20ft container holds roughly 10–14 standard cabinets depending on size; a 40ft high-cube holds 24–32. Bulky simulators take more volume per unit. Ask for a loading plan (carton dimensions per model) before booking — Ele-Amuse provides carton sizes in the spec sheet so your forwarder can plan the load.

Lead time: from deposit to port

Typical production lead time for a mixed container is 15–30 working days after deposit confirmation, then 1–2 days to the port and ocean transit (e.g. 18–35 days to major ports depending on route). Custom voltage, plug and cabinet artwork add a few days. Confirm the date in writing per order.

Documents you will need

  • Commercial invoice and packing list
  • Bill of lading (from the forwarder)
  • CE / RoHS / FCC certificate pack (for customs and market compliance)
  • Destination-specific marks (e.g. UKCA for Great Britain)

A simple first-import plan

  1. Pick 3–5 models to pilot (MOQ 1 each).
  2. Request FOB and CIF quotes for a 20ft mixed load.
  3. Confirm voltage (110V or 220V) and certificate pack.
  4. Book via your forwarder (FOB) or accept CIF.
  5. Receive spec sheets + loading plan, then track to your port.
